This position is located within the department of Rural Properties in the School of Environmental and Rural Science. The appointee will undertake on a day-to-day basis the tasks associated with the management of the livestock and facilities associated with the Armidale Rural Properties. The incumbent will provide active technical and hands-on support to teaching and research activities at the Kirby, Laureldale and Newholme Research Stations including utilising and operating electronic data capture equipment and software. Applicants must have demonstrated practical experience in livestock handling for research purposes and use of relevant machinery and equipment; the ability to work as an individual with minimal supervision and as part of a team; skills in operating a computer including data entry; good interpersonal and written communication skills and the capacity to relate well to a wide cross-section of the community. This is a fixed-term position available until 31 December 2010 with the possibility of further appointment subject to satisfactory performance and the availability of funding.
