Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in Early Childhood Education (Two (2) Positions)

School of Education

The School of Education has an active Early Childhood Education Program. This is evident in the design of courses and their units that build on the latest research. Our innovative residential schools and the ground-breaking Summer Institute: Engaging Children’s Minds add to our dynamic program. The School provides a friendly collegial and supportive working environment.

The School of Education has a strong profile in providing highly regarded pre-service and postgraduate teacher education, research and consultancy. The Centre for Research in English and Multiliteracies Education (CREME) is located in the School. The establishment of the National Centre of Science, Information and Communication Technology, and Mathematics Education for Rural and Regional Australia (SiMERR) in the Faculty of The Professions at UNE is recognition of the expertise in these areas.

The School wishes to appoint two academics to provide leadership in the applied area of Early Childhood Education. The first position has a particular focus on the early years of primary schooling (Ref. No. 208/016). The second position has a general focus on children birth to eight years (Ref. No. 208/017). Both appointments will work in teaching, research, consultancy and professional service.

At the Senior Lecturer level, the successful applicant will be expected to (i) take a leadership role in research supervision of higher degree students, (ii) demonstrate ability in course design and development, (iii) lead research focussed activities, (iv) have a record of research and publications and (v) have a record of securing research funding. At the Lecturer level, the successful applicant will be expected to participate in these activities but at a more formative level.

Applicants should indicate which position and level they are applying for and address all the selection criteria in their applications. Level of appointment will depend on the prior teaching, research experience and qualifications of the successful applicant.
