The School of Health comprises an inter-disciplinary team offering courses in Social Work, Counselling, Gerontology, Complementary and Allied Health, Health Management and Nursing. The newly established Social Work program will offer a Bachelor of Social Work from Semester 1, 2009. It will be offered both on campus and via distance education with a particular view to educating students for rural social work practice. This course is currently under accreditation by the Australian Association of Social Workers and the incumbent will be required to develop and maintain the accredited status of the course with the professional body. The successful applicant will be expected to make a strong contribution to the ongoing development of the Social Work program, development of postgraduate programs, postgraduate research supervision and the research profile of the School of Health. The development of e-learning in Social Work education will be a particular focus. Additionally, the successful applicant will be expected to make a strong contribution to the social work programs on campus and off-shore, postgraduate research supervision and the research profile of the School of Health, which includes areas such as training and professional development of social workers, counselling and other health specialist education. Applicants must have a PhD in a field relevant to social work; demonstrated knowledge and expertise in social work practice; and demonstrated experience in relevant undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
