The Animal Genetics and Breeding Unit, a joint unit of the University of New England (UNE) and NSW Department of Primary Industries, carries out research in genetic improvement for the livestock industries. This position is part of a team, which receives funding from the Beef Genetics Technology Cooperative Research Centre. This CRC is an integrated program of research, education, and technology transfer for the Australian beef industries. The principle role of this position is to further develop, expand and maintain at a high standard the existing databases for the Beef CRC, enter data from various sites as required and assist CRC scientists from all around Australia to access the data. The successful applicant will have a relevant degree with substantial relevant work experience; or an equivalent alternative combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience; knowledge in various database languages; and excellent computer skills. This is a fixed-term position available until 30 June 2010 with the possibility of further appointment subject to satisfactory performance and the availability of funding.
