In 2008 the School introduced a new degree, Bachelor of Criminology, and in 2009 will introduce a new double degree in Criminology and Law. The School is seeking to appoint a staff member to contribute to the teaching in the new criminology degree program. The successful candidate will be working with an award winning team of researchers with high profiles in the fields of the sociology of crime, deviance and delinquency and criminology more generally. The School has a strong research track record and two successful research centres, The Centre for Applied Research in Social Sciences (CARSS) and The Language and Cognition Research Centre (LCRC). The person must be appropriately qualified with relevant academic experience to teach and undertake research in criminology and/or the sociology of deviance. The successful applicant may have a background in a range of cognate social science disciplines such as history, psychology, forensics, sociology, law. Applicants must have either a PhD, Masters degree, or equivalent in research record or experience relevant to the field of criminology. This position would ideally suit someone who wishes to retain their career focus while also having the desire for a life-style change in Armidale, New England. Armidale is surrounded by world heritage national parks, is only 2 hours from the mid north coast and is a unique regional centre that offers all the facilities of a city. Recognised as a centre for culture, Armidale is well served for art, music, theatre and education, both public and private.
