First Year Advisor (3 Year Fixed-term)

The First Year Advisor plays a critical role in supporting the academic development and progress of first year and transition students. The role encompasses liaison with Faculty staff, students enrolled in courses within the Faculty and other areas within the University as appropriate. The successful applicant will have knowledge and experience of the challenges and opportunities facing first year and transition students towards successful university study.

Applicants must have: completed a relevant degree; demonstrated understanding of the requirements of first year and transition University students; ability to negotiate with individuals and decision making bodies within the University and wider community; demonstrated academic writing skills; ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines; and exceptional interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

The position is fixed-term for a period of three (3) years with further appointment possible, subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funding. Consideration may be given to filling the position on less than a full-time basis.
