The School of Education wishes to appoint a Senior Lecturer/Lecturer with a specialisation in primary school Human Society and Its Environment (HSIE)/Studies of Society and Environment (SOSE) curriculum and pedagogy. The position has a focus on primary schooling, with an opportunity for some work in the secondary school range of HSIE/SOSE subjects. The appointee will work in teaching, research, consultancy and professional service. The School of Education has a strong profile in providing highly regarded pre-service and postgraduate teacher education, research and consultancy. The Centre for Research in English and Multiliteracies Education (CREME) is located in the School. The establishment of the National Centre of Science, Information and Communication Technology, and Mathematics Education for Rural and Regional Australia (SiMERR) in the Faculty of The Professions at UNE is recognition of the expertise in these areas. The School provides a friendly, collegial and supportive working environment. At Senior Lecturer level, the successful applicant will be expected to: (i) take a leadership role in research supervision of higher degree students; (ii) take an active role in course design and development; (iii) lead research focussed activities; (iv) have a record of research and publications; and (v) have a record of securing research funding. At the Lecturer level, the successful applicant will be expected to participate in these activities but at a more formative level. At either level the appointee must teach in both undergraduate and postgraduate HSIE/SOSE curriculum units in face-to-face, distance and online modes. Level of appointment will depend on the prior teaching, research experience and qualifications of the successful applicant.
