Associate Lecturer in Music (Fixed-term, Part-time)

The School of Arts is seeking to appoint a fixed-term, part-time (0.2) academic staff member in Music for the duration of Semester 2, finishing on 18 November 2008. The person must be appropriately qualified with relevant experience to teach and mark undergraduate students’ work in Ethnomusicology units and segments within various team-taught Music units. The appointee will carry out two distinct tasks. The first is to develop online learning materials, deliver lectures and mark assignments and exams at undergraduate level, using new technologies to support the needs of internal and external students. The second is to assist with final production of research publications within the Music discipline. Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree, excellent written and oral communication skills, facility in online pedagogy environments and technologies for production of teaching materials to support the learning needs of internal and external students, and facility with current desktop publishing software. Ability to teach on music cultures of the Pacific and Africa, and familiarity with the desktop publishing program, Adobe InDesign, would be an advantage.
