The National Centre of Science, Information and Communication Technology, and Mathematics Education for Rural and Regional Australia (SiMERR) is a successful research organisation with an Australia-wide network of partners and a large portfolio of projects funded from external, competitive grants. The purpose of SiMERR Australia is to provide a national forum for addressing issues relating to the key areas of Science, ICT and Mathematics education, particularly as they concern rural and regional communities. SiMERR is seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to undertake research, and manage and provide support to projects within SiMERR, identify funding opportunities and prepare funding submissions within the context of SiMERR’s focus on rural and regional education. The appointee will report to the Director of SiMERR, Professor John Pegg. Applicants must have: a PhD or equivalent qualifications and experience in Science, ICT or Mathematics education in rural or regional Australia; excellent written and oral communication skills; project management skills; the ability to work independently and as part of a team; demonstrated administrative and organisational skills. This fixed-term, full-time position is available as soon as possible until 31 December 2010 with further appointment possible, subject to satisfactory performance and the availability of funding.
