Awarded on the recommendation of the Head of the School of Human and Environmental Studies to a student who is enrolled in or has completed a 300 or 400 level unit in Geography and Planning, irrespective of the Faculty in which he/she is enrolled, and who submits an essay of approximately 4000 words in lenght which demonstrates an outstanding appreciation of regional geography

Undergraduate and Postgraduate students presenting theses or dissertations in Geography.  Awarded each year on the recommendation of the Head of the School of Behavioural, Cognitive and Social Sciences to the student who produces the best thesis or dissertation in Geography, provided it is certified by the Head of School to be of at least First Class Honours Bachelors standard, or, in the case of works submitted for Masters or PhD degrees, of a corresponding standard of excellence.  In any year when there is no thesis or dissertation of the requisite standard, the prize shall not be awarded

Awarded to the student who, in the Planning Dissertation or Planning Report, provides most evidence of the development of new ideas, approaches or other innovations of relevance to the town planning profession and who has demonstrated a sound understanding of the factors influencing town planning, practice and excellence in the communication of thought and information.  The prize will be awarded on the recommendation of the Head of the School of Human and Environmental Studies on the advice of the unit coordinator GEPL455.  Students recommended for consideration for the award must submit an abstract of their report or dissertation to be eligible
