Student Support

Oorala’s support services include a Student Centre where students can access computers, study facilities, Printing and a kitchen/common room. The Student Centre is also a place where students can meet with their tutors and other students.The Oorala Centre’s Student Support Officer can assist with making ABSTUDY and UNE course enquires and liaise with faculties in regard to students’ educational programs. Oorala also provides support and advice to students who are seeking admission to UNE.

ITAS (Indigenous Tutorial Assistance Scheme)
The Indigenous Tutorial Assistance Scheme (ITAS), program is funded by the Department of Industry, Innovation, Science, Research and Tertiary Education (DIISRTE) and administered by the Oorala Centre. If you are enroled at UNE during the academic year you are entitled to Extra Tutorial Assistance. ITAS offers individual and group tutorials to assist internal and external Indigenous students to:

ITAS Forms

  • Achieve satisfactory results in their studies
  • Compete equally with other students

What you can get

  • Up to two hours per subject per week
  • Additional hours for examination preparation during semester examination periods
  • Students can nominate a tutor or the ITAS Coordinator will find you a tutor.
