Office 365 launch!
Office 365 went live for students on Monday, 26th November 2012
What is Office 365?
Office 365 is a cloud-based service that will replace our current email system (Webmail) with a fully featured online email service. Office 365 is designed with mobile computing platforms such as iPads and mobile phones in mind and includes features such as calendars and tasks to effectively manage study time.
Why did UNE change to a new email system?
Office 365 does not just provide you with email - though it does that very well. Calendar and contact lists will give you the ability to sync contacts calendars and reminders with your mobile devices.
Our old faithful mail system has been providing a basic student email for many years but it is now time to improve our service to students with a full cloud solution.
In future releases of Office 365, access to a whole suite of programs that will be useful for your study (Word, Excel etc) will be included - this should be in place later in 2013.
When did the change occur?
The new system went live midday, Monday 26th November 2012. All old students emals were converted to the new system and any new students will now be issued with an Office 365 account.
Will I get a new email address?
Yes. Your new email address has the format firstname.lastname@example.org.
How do I access my new email account?
There will be a number of ways to access your Office365 account.
You can access it online at http://access.myune.edu.au (from 26th November) or use the links from the university homepage and many other places on the UNE website.
To check your emails, you can also set up your computer / iphone / mobile device to download your emails to an email client such as Outlook or MacMail. To view instructions on how to set up your device, please go to the Office365 support page, select your device / operating system from the drop-down menus and follow the steps provided.

Office365 has comprehensive online help. You can also contact the Service Desk at UNE for information.

No new emails are delivered to you Webmail account.
If you were an active student in November 2012, any current emails in UNE's webmail account have been automatically migrated to Office 365. If your account was inactive at the time, you old emails will now have been migrated automatically.
What will happen if others email me at my old email (firstname.lastname@example.org)? Can I still use it?

Please make sure that you update all your contacts in the next 12 months with your new email address (firstname.lastname@example.org).
I have set up other accounts (Facebook, YouTube, online shopping etc) with my old @une.edu.au email address. Will I need to change them?
YES! You will need to update all registration that use your old email address before 30th November 2013.
Can I forward my emails to another external email address (such as Gmail or Hotmail)?
Yes, you will be able to forward your emails to an external email address - instructions on how to do so can be found here.
I currently have a forward set up - will I have to redo it?

You will need to set up the forward to an external non-UNE account. Instructions on how to do this will be made available soon.
I am downloading my UNE emails to an email client on my computer / phone (Outlook, Mac Mail etc). Will I be able to do so after the change?
YES, but you will need to update your mail client with new settings. Instructions can be found on the Office 365 website (choose your operating system from the drop down list and follow the steps provided).
What happens when I leave UNE?
