Staff Leadership Program | Women and Leadership

 

UNE Staff Leadership Program

The UNE Staff Leadership Program is designed to develop the technical and interpersonal skills of workplace leaders in the context of Australian universities. The program consists of a structured series of eight three-hour workshops between March and October of each year. Workshops are presented by invited speakers from among senior UNE staff, typically acknowledged leaders in their field with excellent presentation and facilitation skills.

The overall goals of the program are to build leadership networks at UNE and to promote the personal development of self-selecting leaders.

The following is a selection of topics that have been covered in previous years. As the leadership program continues to develop, these may or may not be offered in any given year:

  • Introduction to Leadership (2006 Presenters Prof David Rich, PVCTL and Prof Ian MacDoanld, Dir. TLC)
  • Strategic Planning and Project Management (2006: Prof Larry Smith, Dir GSBA)
  • Risk and Project Management (2005: Mr Richard Jones, Risk Consultant and Mr Ross Dobson, PM ITD)
  • Mediation and Conflict Management (2006: Dr Rebecca Spence, Lecturer Peace Studies)
  • Team Building and Personality Types (2005/2006: Ms Glenys Rich, Consultant ODU)
  • Presentation and Facilitation Skills (2006: Dr Michael Evans, Research Fellow CEEWPR)
  • Supervision and Mentoring (2006: A/Prof Jeanne Madison, Head of School FEHPS)
  • Ethics and Politics of Leadership (2005/2006: Prof Michael Macklin, Dean of Arts)
  • Advanced Interpersonal Skills (2005/2006: Ms Kay Hempsall, Manager ODU)

The leadership program is offered free online and as a series of workshops to UNE staff members.

The program is part of the UNE Strategic Plan. As there is a significant time commitment involved (3 contact hours per month plus learning activities), please discuss it with your director or head of school before sending a registration form to Organisational Development, fax 2755 or by internal mail.

Women and Leadership

An advanced leadership program designed to develop high-achieving leadership skills among women. The program consists of a structured series of eight three-hour workshops between March and October of each year. Workshops are presented by invited speakers from among senior UNE staff, typically acknowledged leaders in their field with excellent presentation and facilitation skills.

The overall goals of the program are to build leadership networks at UNE and to promote the personal development of women in leadership roles.

Women and Leadership is offered free online and as a series of workshops to UNE staff members.

As there is a significant time commitment involved (3 contact hours per month plus learning activities), please discuss it with your director or head of school before sending a registration form to Organisational Development, fax 2755 or by internal mail. As soon as this is processed we will contact you to advise that your course is now available through UNE Online.
