Student Exchange and Studying Abroad
Exchange
If your Faculty/School is interested in establishing an exchange agreement with an overseas institution you will need to refer to the International Marketing and Pathways website http://www.une.edu.au/imp/study/exchangeproc.php for details on how to proceed.
It is important to think of a few things when establishing an agreement:
- How will this benefit the university?
- Does the overseas university offer relevant units in English for UNE students or is this agreement for language students?
- Are the accommodation and university facilities adequate for western students?
- Will UNE students be interested in studying at this overseas institution?
- Will the overseas students be interested in studying at UNE and in which areas? And will their English Language level be sufficient for study in an Australian university?
General Information:
- Exchange programs are based on a few key principles
- Internationalisation of the campus
- Tuition waiver and credit transfer arrangements
- Building Partnerships with Overseas Institutions
- Maintenance of balance between incoming and outgoing students (1-1)
Study Abroad
A Study Abroad program involves students (either incoming or outgoing) studying at an overseas institution for one semester of study. Students pay tuition fees, but these are generally packaged to include some tourist activities. UNE Study Abroad fees are currently AUD7,000 per semester (tuition fees only).
Students do not enrol at their home institution; they suspend their enrolment for the semester and then apply for advanced standing for the study they have completed.
An agreement is not required for a Study Abroad program and students can elect to study at any University they choose, so long as they can receive credit for their overseas semester.
