		News Release: Tasmanian Governor addresses UNE alumni 19/11/03 208/03 A University of New England alumni dinner in Hobart featured a special address from His Excellency Dr Richard Butler AC, Governor of Tasmania. The gathering of 90 in Hobart last Saturday night included UNE alumni, current students and their guests as well as representatives of the Australian University Alumni Council. UNE's Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research), Professor Peter Flood, acted as Master of Ceremonies for the evening and Ms Betty Pilgrim, a UNE graduate and past colleague of Dr Butler's, introduced him to the guests.   Jennifer Miller, UNE's Alumni Relations Officer, said the event had been 'a lovely, relaxing and enjoyable evening.' Melinda Gambrell, a current student at UNE, agreed, and said she was glad to see UNE 'stretching over Bass Strait into Tasmania'. The dinner was, in part, sponsored by the UNE Union, and organisers from UNE are hoping that an alumni dinner in Tasmania can become a regular event.
