More than $5000 has been raised by the University of New England
for its scholarship program.
The money was raised through a Spring Ball, held for the first
time by the university.
Sponsors of the ball included Konica Minolta, Petals, The Armidale
Express and the New England Credit Union, who contributed thousands
of dollars worth of prizes, including a digital camera, floral bouquets
and airline tickets.
Ms Jennifer Miller, Development officer and an event organiser,
said it was a success and was generously supported.

More than 190 people attended the ball, where special guests included
UNE Chancellor Pat O'Shane and Vice-Chancellor Ingrid Moses.
Ms Miller said guests had a "pleasurable evening" with
music supplied by Coffs Harbour-based group The Little Ripper Band
and food catered for by the UNE Union.
"The aim of the evening was to raise money for scholarships
and to encourage community relationships between Armidale residents
and schools within the district," Ms Miller said.
Organisers are hoping to hold a second ball next year.
