As part of its celebration of 75 years of teacher education in
Armidale, the University of New England is organising a Spring Ball
and devoting all proceeds to scholarships for its Education students.
The ball, on October 25, will be reminiscent of the popular May
Balls held at UNE, which extended dining and dancing over several
venues. It will involve Lazenby Hall and the UNE Union Function
Centre, with pre-dinner drinks and snacks in the UNE Union courtyard
and after-dinner coffee in Dr Rob's lounge.
To help UNE ensure that all funds raised will be available for
scholarships, several local and national businesses have already
offered financial support. These sponsors include The Armidale Express,
Petals Network, Konica, Armidale Telstra Shop, and Sunshine Express
airline.

Ms Jennifer Miller, UNE's Alumni Relations Officer and a member
of the organising committee, said the Spring Ball would be "a
chance for people to enjoy themselves and help others at the same
time".
"It will be a celebration of both UNE's history in teacher
education and the potential of its current students," she said.
"We're hoping that more than 500 people will attend the ball,"
she continued, "including local residents, business people,
school teachers from throughout the region, UNE graduates and current
students, and UNE Council and staff members."
