How to get your NEA points authorised

It is important to let the activity provider know that you are claiming points for the New England Award when undertaking the activity.

Ensure that you add each activity you complete, or plan to complete, to your MyNEA profile (note that you must be registered to access MyNEA).  Add an activity to your profile from the NEA Activity List or 'Add a customised activity' if your activity is not in the Activity List.  Note that actvities that are not from the Activity List may require supporting documentation (see below).

If you are planning to complete an activity or you are in progress of completing the activity, press 'save and close' when entering it into your profile.  If you have completed the activity and have proof of your participation, press 'save and submit' to apply for NEA points.

Most activities can be authorised using an Activity Provider Statement. This form is designed to apply to all activities. You fill in part A and part B. You then submit it to the activity provider who will sign the declaration if you have completed the activity satisfactorily. Please note that we will only accept signatures from supervisors or paid UNE staff members. Once the form is completed you send it to the New England Award Office with supporting documentation (see below).

The New England Award Office will then authorise the points in MyNEA provided that you have added that activity in your profile.

There are, however, a number of other acceptable forms of proof. These are copies of:

- RSA Certificate, RSG Certificate, UNE extra curricular training certificates, First Aid certificate.

Supporting Documentation

The NEA Office requires supporting documentation for activities which are unknown to the NEA Office and/or have been completed external to the university.  Supporting documentation assists to verify specific details about individual activities and provides evidence that your activity 'fits' in to at least one of the NEA categories.

Examples of supporting documentation may include position statements, pamphlets, flyers and references.  Supporting documentation needs to confirm unique activity details such as the activity description and what the activity involved; date/s and duration of the activity; your responsibility/duties involved; your level of commitment and the Activity Provider and contact details.  Please attach supporting documentation to your proof of participation.

Please note that activities may be rejected if insufficient supporting documentation is supplied.

Claiming Points for voluntary work or paid work

Before undertaking any work that you wish to claim for New England Award points, you must ensure that you and the employer have signed the NEA Work Experience Disclosure Form and returned it the NEA Office. If the form is not completed and signed you will not be eligible to claim the NEA points for the work undertaken.

If the Work Experience Disclosure form is completed, and the work has been undertaken, you can ask your employer to sign an Activity Provider Statement to verify that you have completed 35 hours or more of work. You are eligible for 75 points for paid work and 100 points for voluntary work if you have completed 35 hours or more.
