Wendy Roberts Science Prize

Value: $1000

Awarded: Annually at Awards Dinner (term 4)

Eligibility:

1. A current Mary White College student intending to return to the College the following year;

2. Completing the requirements of an undergraduate study program; intending to enrol as a full-time internal student in an Honours program in the Sciences; and

3. Shown dedication/diligence in their undergraduate studies leading up to their Honours year; and involvement in the Mary White College community.

Mary White College SCR Scholarship

Value: $1000

Awarded: Annually at Faculty Dinner (term 1)

Eligibility:

1. A current Mary White College student in his or her third year of residence at Mary White College, and in his or her third year of their undergraduate degree;

2. A grade point average (gpa) of 5 or above in the first and second year of their undergraduate degree; and

3. Shown a willingness to be involved in the life of the Mary White College community and the University and wider community.

Mary Bagnall Scholarship

Value: $600

Awarded: Annually at Awards Dinner (term 4)

Eligibility:

1. Female resident of Mary White College intending to return to the College the following year;

2. Completing the requirements of an undergraduate study program, intending to enrol as a full-time internal student in an Honours program; and

3. A distinguished academic record during the initial years of her course and will have made a significant contribution to University or College life.

Jill Spilsbury Prize

Value: $500

Awarded: Annually at Awards Dinner (term 4)

Eligibility:

1. A Mary White College student intending to return to Mary White College the following year;

2. Studying for a first degree at the University of New England, or finalising their first degree in the year of application and preparing to enrol in a Graduate Diploma of Education in the following year;

3. Begun their studies when 23 years of age or older;

4. Be financially independent; and

5. Shown commitment to their studies and a willingness to be involved in the life of the Mary White College community.

Clan Davidson Prize

Value: $250

Awarded: Annually at Chancellor’s Dinner (term 2)

Eligibility:

1. A Mary White College resident;

2. The prize is awarded for excellence in a field of academic study in the previous year, having a direct bearing on the cultural life of the College;

3. Outstanding contribution to performance events within the College; and contribution to the cultural life of the University.

Susan Hemmings Prize

Value: $250

Awarded: Annually at Awards Dinner (term 4)

Eligibility:

1. A resident of Mary White College intending to return to the College the following year;

2. Completing the requirements of an undergraduate study program, intending to enrol as a full-time internal student in an Honours program;

3. The successful applicant will have a distinguished academic record during the initial years of her course and will have made a significant contribution to University or College life; and

4. The award will be a subsidy towards accommodation fees at Mary White College. Applications should contain all relevant details.

P.A. Wright Prize

Value: $250

Awarded: Annually at Chancellor’s Dinner (term 2)

Eligibility:

1. A continuing Mary White College student; and

2. Awarded for academic achievement and general contribution to University and College activities, based on the previous year's performance.

Margaret Ann Franklin Prize

Value: $250

Awarded:Annually at Chancellor’s Dinner (term 2)

Eligibility:

1. A Mary White College resident from the previous year that is again in the College;

2. Academic excellence; and

3. Going into the second or third year of study leading to the award of a Bachelor of Arts, a B Social Science or a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Law degree.

Beth Richardson Memorial Prize

Value: $250

Awarded:Annually at Award’s Dinner (term 4)

Eligibility:

1. An undergraduate student in his or her first year of residence at Mary White;

2. Made the most significant contribution to College, University and Community activities; and

3. Intends to reside in the College again in the following year.

Nancie Priestley Memorial Prize

Value: $250

Awarded: Annually at Award’s Dinner (term 4)

Eligibility:

A resident of Mary White College for service during that year to the College, the University or to the community as a whole.

 

The Chancellor's Prize for Excellence in Science, Rural Science or Resource Management

Value: $200

Awarded: Annually at Chancellor’s Dinner (term 2)

Eligibility:

1. A Mary White student entering the third year of a degree in the School of Science and Technology or School of Environmental and Rural Science and continuing in residence from the previous year; and

2. Awarded on the basis of the average results of all units studied in the previous year, provided that this average is of at least Credit standard and that at least 6 units were studied.

Prize for Excellence in Economics, Business and Law

Value: $200

Awarded: Annually at Chancellor’s Dinner (term 2)

Eligibility:

1. A Mary White student entering the third year of a degree in School of Business, Economics and Public Policy and School of Law and continuing in residence from the previous year; and

2. Awarded on the basis of the average results of all units studied in the previous year, provided that this average is of at least Credit standard and that at least 6 units were studied.

Prize for Excellence in Education

Value: $200

Awarded: Annually at Chancellor’s Dinner (term 2)

Eligibility:

1. A Mary White student entering the third year of a degree in School of Education and continuing in residence from the previous year; and

2. Awarded on the basis of the average results of all units studied in the previous year, provided that this average is of at least Credit standard and that at least 6 units were studied.

Prize for Excellence in Health

Value: $200

Awarded: Annually at Chancellor’s Dinner (term 2)

Eligibility:

1. A Mary White student entering the third year of a degree in School of Health and continuing in residence from the previous year; and

2. Awarded on the basis of the average results of all units studied in the previous year, provided that this average is of at least Credit standard and that at least 6 units were studied.

Prize for Excellence in Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities

Value: $200

Awarded: Annually at Chancellor’s Dinner (term 2)

Eligibility:

1. A Mary White student entering the third year of a degree in School of Arts, School of Behavioural, Cognitive and Social Sciences and School of Humanities and continuing in residence from the previous year; and

2. Awarded on the basis of the average results of all units studied in the previous year, provided that this average is of at least Credit standard and that at least 6 units were studied.

Prize for Excellence in Rural Medicine*

Value: $200

Awarded: Annually at Chancellor’s Dinner (term 2)

Eligibility:

1. A Mary White student entering the third year of a degree in School of Rural Medicine and continuing in residence from the previous year; and

2. Awarded on the basis of the average results of all units studied in the previous year, provided that this average is of at least Credit standard and that at least 6 units were studied.

S.W. Spencer Award

Value: $100

Awarded: Annually at Awards Dinner (term 4)

Eligibility:

1. A male student at Mary White College who has been a resident in college in the academic year concerned and who;

2. has shown exceptional prowess, exemplary leadership and charisma, and/or exemplary participation in one or more sports over the academic year;

3. is a person completing an undergraduate degree; and

4. has achieved a GPA at 5.0 or above in the relevant academic year.

F.H. Spencer Award

Value: $100

Awarded: Annually at Awards Dinner (term 4)

Eligibility:

1. A female student at Mary White College who has been a resident in college in the academic year concerned and who;

2. has shown exceptional prowess, exemplary leadership and charisma, and/or exemplary participation in one or more sports over the academic year;

3. is a person completing an undergraduate degree; and

4. has achieved a GPA at 5.0 or above in the relevant academic year.

J. Woolmington Prize for History

Value: $75

Awarded: Annually at Chancellor’s Dinner (term 2)

Eligibility:

1. A Mary White student who was resident of the College at the time of the exams of the previous year; and

2. Highest marks in two units of History, Ancient History, Economic History or Archaeology.

Elizabeth Cheung Prize

Value: $75

Awarded: Annually at Chancellor’s Dinner (term 2)

Eligibility:

1. A third year student of Mary White College;

2. Obtained a Distinction or above in Corporation Accounting (AFM 211-1) and Management Accounting (AFM 212-1); and

3. Passed all other subjects (at least 4 units) in the previous year's examinations.

Sportswoman/Sportsman of the Year Award

Value: $50

Awarded: Annually at Award’s Dinner (term 4)

Eligibility:

A resident of Mary White College for exceptional prowess in one or more sports, sportsmanship, and leadership in sport and/or sports administration.

Shirley Randell Prize

Value: $50

Awarded: Annually at Award’s Dinner (term 4)

Eligibility:

An overseas resident of Mary White College who makes a significant contribution to college activities and maintains a high academic standard.
