Mary White is committed to a variety of community services and recognises the importance of corporate, social and environmental responsibility. Each year we nominate a charitable foundation who we conduct fundraising events for in that particular year. In 2012 for the second year running, our selected charity is Can-Teen, a support organisation for young people living with cancer. Previous charities: 2011 Canteen 2010 Beyond Blue 2009 Armidale Women’s Refuge 2008 Salvation Army 2007 Leukemia Foundation The College is committed to sustainability with an active in-house recycling program and commitment to regular events such as Earth hour. Our recently renovated buildings are designed with energy efficiency and water saving in mind. These new blocks contain double-glazed windows for heat insulation, and lighting that only comes on when people are present. Our students also attend Saumarez homestead each year for a gardening and maintenance day where we help keep the historic establishment in good condition. Saumarez was the home of Miss Mary White, whom the College is named in honour of. |
