Academic Support
Mary White College prides itself on the academic acheivement of its residents and supports this through the appointment of a number of Academic Mentors. Academic Mentors are appointed on academic merit, interpersonal skills and an expressed willingness to help fellow residents with their studies. They provide academic assistance, mainly in small groups and liaise regularly with the Principal to ensure a sound level of academic support is provided for all residents. Mentors aim to faciliate the academic learning process, to advise residents on the development of good study habits, and to refer residents to other academic support services. They work very close with first year residents to aid in the transition into tertiary studies. The Academic Mentors also host a number of study nights throughout the year with specific topics, such as managing exam stress, plagarism, career planning, and more. The high emphasis placed on our peer support programs, along with the care for the welfare and well-being of fellow residents, builds the character of the College and makes Mary White an inviting and supportive place to live and study. |
