Academic Support
Mary White College prides itself on the academic achievement of its residents, and supports their learning through the appointment of Academic Mentors.
Under the leadership of the Senior Academic Mentor, Academic Mentors assist fellow residents in their academic studies, and contribute to the development of good study skills. They provide assistance through one-on-one tutorials, small groups sessions, and College-wide study nights. They regularly liaise with the Head of College to ensure a sound level of academic support is provided to all residents. Academic Mentors act as a point of contact between residents and teaching staff at the University, allowing expert assistance in specific study areas to be provided. Academic Mentors are also able to refer residents to other academic support services. They work very close with first year residents to aid in the transition into tertiary studies. The Academic Mentors also host a number of study sessions throughout the year with specific topics including managing exam stress, time management, understanding your assessment, resume writing, plagiarism, applying for jobs, career planning and more.
