Library Survey Results
The 2009 Library survey has now closed. Thank you to all participants. Results and our responses will be posted in a few weeks. The iPod draw was held at the end of October and the iPods have been sent to the winners.
Thanks also to everyone (staff, students and special borrowers) who responded to the Library Satisfaction Survey in 2007. We appreciate you taking time to tell us what you think about our services and resources. We received a total of 834 responses from staff, undergraduates and postgraduates. The full report is available online.
Overall satisfaction remains high, with the survey respondents rating Unviersity of New England Library at 5.57 out of a possible high of 7, and placing us in the top 25% of university libraries surveyed.
What you think the Library does well?
Overall, you reported that the Library staff are helpful and professional. Most survey respondents agreed that “staff treat me fairly without discrimination”. We’re proud of our staff and of their outstanding record in providing professional, helpful service to all our patrons.

What is most important to you about our service and resources?
You scored “access to electronic resources is easily available” as the most important factor in your library experience.
What we need to do better
The 2007 Survey results also told us where we needed to improve. Gaps were identified by subtracting our mean performance scores (ie how well we performed in a particular area) from the mean importance scores (ie how important staff and students perceived a particular service to be).
Below is a list of the areas to improve, and the size of the gap as measured by the survey. The lowest score was only 1.26 — well below the statistically significant level (2.0).
Click on any the areas below to see how we responded to each of these gaps.
