Skills for Research 2013 classes

Library Tours are available at the beginning of Trimester 1.

  • Classes with fewer than 4 places booked may be cancelled 3 days prior to the advertised date. Participants will be notified of any cancellations by email.

Finding quality journal articles (1.5 hrs)      Book here

Learn how to use the some of the most popular databases (ProQuest, Informit and JSTOR) available from the Library site.

EndNote Basics (2 hrs)    Book here

EndNote enables you to organise the references you have used for your research into your own library. This class covers basic EndNote skills and is split into two parts.

  • Part 1 shows you how to create a library, enter new references, download references from online databases and sort your library.
  • Part 2 teaches you how to create bibliographies and to insert citations into your documents using different referencing styles.

Please note, EndNote software is not free to undergraduate students.

Citation Indexes: Who's citing whom (1 hr)     Book here

Citation indexes help you track the course of academic debate in your subject and find relevant references. The class focuses on Web of Science, Scopus, and Google Scholar
