Organising library classes for students

The University Library provides tutorials and workshops for students in a particular unit, course or subject. These sessions can be arranged by contacting your Faculty Librarian, or the Law Librarian at the Law Library.

Library staff will work with you to ensure that the tutorial meets the information literacy needs of your students. Classes for undergraduate students are most useful if they precede an assignment. In this way students can gain an overview of literature searching on a current topic at a highly relevant time. Sessions for small groups of Honours or post-graduate students are more comprehensive and review a greater variety of sources, including print.

Classes may be arranged during normal semester times and Residential School periods, in the Library or in the Faculties. Please note, sessions are not able to be scheduled on weekends, public holidays or at night.

Sessions can arranged on subjects such as

  • literature searching techniques
  • using journal databases
  • using bibliographies and other printed reference works
  • locating theses, conference papers and other specialised resources.

Faculty Librarians are also available for one-to-one consultations with higher degree students.

Library staff can assist in information literacy training.
