New serial subscriptions

All orders for new serial subscriptions must come through your Library Liaison Officer. The Library Liaison Officer will determine whether or not there are sufficient funds to cover the cost of a new subscription. If the funds available are insufficient, your School will have to drop an existing subscription before taking up the new one. Your Library Liaison Officer has the option of submitting an order by email, or by using a serials order card (available from the Library), or on an order form provided by the publisher.
Orders for new serials or enquiries should be directed to Mardi Cook, Serials and Electronic Resources Librarian.
Current serials display
New issues of serials (including journals) are located on the First Floor of Dixson Library in the Current Serials room (check the map). There is also a Current Serials Display in the Law Library.
Loose issues of serials are housed in the Current Display Area until a volume is complete. When complete, the volume is bound and sent to the open shelves.
As issues are received, they are mounted on the vertical Weekly Display shelves at the front of the Current Serials room. This display is updated every Tuesday.
The items removed from the Weekly Display Area are shelved in Dewey order on the horizontal shelves at the back of the Current Serials room.
Replacements for missing serials
Occasionally an individual volume or issue of a serial goes missing. To order a replacement, you will need to place an order (using an order card or email) with your School's Library Liaison Officer.
The order should be sent to Monographs staff at the Library, rather than to Serials, as the purchase of a replacement is processed as if the item were a monograph.
Please note on the order which volume and number of the serial issue is required.
Library staff will obtain a quote from the appropriate supplier and, if this quote is acceptable, the missing serials issue or issues will be purchased out of the requesting School's monograph fund.
Further information
Monograph enquiries should be directed to Tracy Cooper, Monograph Orders Librarian, and Serial enquiries to Mardi Cook, Serials & Electronic Resources Librarian.
