The Library Liaison Officer (LLO)
Each discipline or School has a Library Liaison Officer (LLO), who represents the School in day-to-day relations with the University Library regarding resources and services.
In particular, LLOs contribute to the selection of appropriate library resources to support teaching and research. In this task, the LLO works with other academic staff and the Liaison Librarian assigned to the School or discipline.
Budgets
An important part of the LLO's task is monitoring expenditure of the budget for the purchase of serials, books and other library items. Each year there is the opportunity for the LLO to consult the Head of School and other colleagues regarding prioritising resources and reviewing serial subscriptions.
The LLO is notified of the discipline or School's library budget early in the academic year. As the year continues, he or she monitors current commitments and total expenditures. This information is available from Barbara Avis, Monograph Orders Librarian, and Mardi Cook, Serials and Electronic Resources Librarian.
Book orders
Orders for books and other individual items you'd like added to the University Library should be placed with your LLO. Find out how to go about ordering books.
Serials subscriptions
Serials subscriptions must also be authorised by your LLO. For further information, see the page on ordering new serial subscriptions.
Further enquiries
If you have any enquiries regarding the role of the LLO, you should contact Warren Gilson, Head of Resources Management.
