Lead times for ordered items

Order arrival times

For Australian-sourced materials, the turn-around (from ordering through to cataloging) is approximately 6-8 weeks. It takes 8-10 weeks for items obtained overseas.

Both these estimates assume the title in question is in stock with the agent at the time of the order. If this is not the case, delivery can be delayed significantly.

This fact makes it all the more important for item orders to be submitted well in advance.

Why does it take so long?

Part of the delay relates to the time taken by agents to process orders. Another important factor is transit times. In addition, ordering and cataloguing an item is a complex process.

Where and for how long are new books displayed?

New books are displayed in the New Books display area near the Current Serials display on the First Floor of Dixson Library. New books are displayed for a week before going to the shelves.
