What can we do to help you?

Contact the Faculty and Liaison Librarians to talk to us or make an appointment by telephone or email. Faculty and Liaison Librarians can:

  • provide advice about library research and literature reviews
  • inform you about the appropriate databases for your subject area
  • search for you in pay-per-view databases like British Education Index
  • advise you on Inter Library Loans and reciprocal borrowing at other universities
  • familiarise you with the layout and procedures of the University Library
  • assist you to use EndNote

Theses and eSKILLS Plus

eSKILLS Plus is the Library's online program so postgraduate students can improve study and career-related skills. eSKILLS Plus includes tutorials on subjects such as using the Web for research, finding theses, writing your literature review, writing for publication and conference presentations.

Advanced skills for researchers

The University Library offers six modules of training specifically for postgraduate students
  • Module 1 Using the internet for research (1.5 hours)
  • Module 2 Advanced searching of journal indexes (2 hours)
  • Module 3 Citation indexes (1.5 hours)
  • Module 4 EndNote Basics 1: Developing your library of references (2 hours)
  • Module 5 EndNote Basics 2: Inserting citations into Word documents (1.5 hours)

A timetable and descriptions of the classes are here. You can book online or telephone the Service Desk on 02 6773 2458. If you are unable to attend the classes there are online tutorials in eSKILLS Plus.
