What can we do to help you?

Contact the Faculty and Liaison Librarians to talk to us or make an appointment by telephone or email. Faculty and Liaison Librarians can:

• provide advice about library research and literature reviews
• inform you about the appropriate databases for your subject area
• search for you in pay-per-view databases like British Education Index
• advise you on Inter Library Loans and reciprocal borrowing at other universities
• familiarise you with the layout and procedures of the University Library
• assist you to use EndNote

  • Manage your references using EndNote software. Book a class online or try our EndNote tutorial, UNE’s handouts and FAQs and EndNote’s training videos (in Windows Media Player or MP4 format).
  • Discover journal abbreviations and their full titles through Genamics JournalSeek or All That JAS: Journal Abbreviation Sources. EndNote users can also import lists of abbreviations for a number of subjects.

2011 Skills for Research programme

In 2011 the Library will offer five classes as part of the Skills for Research programme. These are:

• Expert Googling (1 hr)
• Finding quality journal articles (1.5 hrs)
• Citation Indexes: Who's citing whom (1 hr)
• EndNote Basics (3 hrs)
• Ebooks (30 mins)

These classes are relevant across all Schools at UNE. A timetable and descriptions of the classes are here. You can book online or telephone the Service Desk on 02 6773 2458. If you are unable to attend the classes there are online tutorials covering the same material in eSKILLS Plus.
