New students
Welcome to the University Library
Much of your library work can be done online through our site. The University Library consists of two branch libraries: Dixson Library, (main library) and the Law Library.
Library opening hours are available online and in a bookmark (pick this up from the Service Desk on the Ground Floor of Dixson Library).
Maps and floorplans of Dixson Library are also available.
Borrowing
Local students need to come to the Library to borrow. We will post items to external students living outside 2350, 2351 and 2358 postcode areas. To find out more about borrowing, including how many items you can have, and the length of the loan period, go to Library Services, and click on the category which best matches you.
You can renew your loans online through the UNE Library Catalogue.
Finding information for assignments
Many resources to help you are available online. To use most of these, you need a UNE username and password. If you are a UNE student, register for one now if you have not already done so!
Unless you are an experienced researcher, it is recommended that you start by reading our brief guide Finding information for your assignments.
There are also subject-specific Research Guides. One example is the Law, which include help for particular assignments. Check if these are available for your topics.
Lecturers often place essential items, like journal article and/or book chapters into e-reserve. These items can be downloaded by students.
Exam preparation
Practise your exam techniques using past exam papers.
