Computer labs

In addition to computer labs maintained by individual Faculties and Schools, there are computer labs for students in the University Library (Dixson and Law Libraries) and the IT Building.

Please note that, before you can make full use of the computing labs on the UNE campus, you must register for a UNE username and password.

University Library

There are a large number of computers on the Ground Floor of the University Library (Dixson Library) available for use during Library opening hours. The computers are available for word-processing and access to electronic resources (such as journal indexes and online journals), the Web and email. These computers have with USB drive ports, floppy disk drives and CD-ROM drives. Note, however, that you cannot burn CD-ROMs or DVD-ROMs from these machines.

Law Library

There are computers in the Law Library for word-processing and access to online resources.

Information Technology Building

The PC labs in the IT Building are open 24-hours a day, seven days a week. Access to email, the World Wide Web and a range of applications, including word processing and spreadsheet packages is available. You will, however, need to bring your own floppy disk if you wish to save your files to disk.

IT Service Desk

For computer-related problems, you can also contact the IT Service Desk. The Service Desk is located on the Ground Floor of the IT Building and is available between 8.30 and 5.00 Mondays to Fridays. Contact the IT Service Desk on (02) 6773 5000 (extn 5000), or email servicedesk@une.edu.au.

Weekend support

During weekends, the IT Service Desk operates under special arrangements. During term times and residential school periods, phone and email support is available between 1.00 and 5.00 on Saturday and Sunday. At these times, an IT Service Desk staff member will be available on the Ground Floor of the University Library (Dixson Library).
