How to make a subject search request
What is a subject search?
A subject search helps you to find resources (books, book chapters, articles etc) for your assignments. You can perform a search for resources yourself using:
- our online catalogue
- our online databases. See the Research Guides page for links to databases in your subject area.
- Google Scholar. Search Google Scholar using the Google Search tab on the Library home page so you can get quick access to all UNE-subscribed resources.
If you are an external student and having difficulty finding resources, our Web-based form is a quick way of asking Library staff for assistance.
How do I make a subject search request?
Requests for subject searches can be made on our Web-based form. If you have any problems using the Web-based form, there is an alternative service.
What will I receive?
In most cases, we will send you books from the Library’s collection, a relevant search strategy or a list of journal articles. If you receive a list of references, you can request copies of the articles that you feel best meet your needs.
We don't charge postage for sending you books, but you must pay the postage when returning books.
Why doesn’t the library just send me the articles?
Copyright regulations prevent us from choosing articles and copying them for you.
Where do I go for further information?
If you require additional information on subject searches, please Ask a Librarian or telephone the Service Desk on (02) 6773 2458.
