Adaptive technology

Resource Room

The Resource Room on the Lower Ground Floor of the Library is available to all students with a disability/medical condition registered with Student Assist.

The room is accessible during library opening hours. For security reasons this room is locked, and you are asked to sign in at the Service Desk where a temporary key will be issued. Please return the key once you have completed using the room.

What is available?

The equipment available for your use in the Resource Room includes:

  • a Windows XP computer  with the latest version of Jaws, an Internet connection and scanner
  • 2 x Reading Edge Machines
  • 1 x Magnifier Computer with Windows XP, Dragon Naturally Speaking, internet connection and scanner.

Assistance Available

Contact the IT Service Desk on extension 5000 if you are having computer problems, or ring Student Assist on extension 2897.

Maintenance of Equipment

Please report faulty equipment to Student Assist as soon as possible, so that we repairs can be made quickly.

Student responsibility

Please ensure that you

  • your name is recorded in the log book at the Service Desk when you pick up the key.
  • lock the door when leaving the Resource Room
  • return the key personally to the Service Desk. The time of return will be recorded by the Service Desk staff.

Please respect the rights of other users. The room is intended as a work space, not as a meeting place.

Law Library

Adaptive technology is also installed on SAM (The Special Access Machine) in the Law Library.
