Special borrower

Any member of the community can become a Special Borrower. This status allows you to access a wider range of library services than other members of the general public.

Membership privileges include borrowing from the University Library's collection of over 800,000 items and access to inter library loan (document delivery) services. For borrowers at a distance, a postal delivery service for books and photocopies of periodical articles is also available.

See the appropriate page for borrowing privileges.

The annual fee is $82.50 (GST inclusive) for borrowers using the University Library in person and $165.00 (GST inclusive) for borrowers at a distance.

How long will it take?

Processing your application and producing your University Card (which also serves as a Library Card) will take about two weeks. We will then post your University Card to your postal address, enclosing a packet of information about the Library and its services. You will be able to borrow from the Library as soon as you receive your card. For information about borrowing in-person or from a distance, see the pages for local and external students.
