School tours

High School teachers in the New England Region can organise to bring their senior classes for a tour of the University Library. Students in Years 10, 11 or 12 will be given an orientation tour to assist them in acquiring library skills and in locating resources to aid them in their studies. An introduction to the library catalogue can also be incorporated in the tour.

Tour arrangements should be made at least two weeks in advance of the date. Please telephone the Service Desk on 02 6773 2458 to make a booking.

Student access 

School students are welcome to access the resources of the University Library during opening hours. They can also become Special Borrowers for an annual fee of $27.50 (GST-inclusive).

Teacher access to the Curriculum Collection

From January 2007 all currently employed school teachers can join the University Library without charge and may borrow up to 50 items from any collection normally available for loan.

The loan period is 28 days with up to 5 renewals. If an item is recalled by another borrower the loan period is reduced to 14 days and you will not be able to renew the loan. You can renew online using your Library ID number and a Password you can organise by telephoning the Service Desk on 02 6773 2458.

If you are a teacher and wish to join the Library, fill in a Special Borrower Form and return the form with a passport size photograph and a letter from your school principal verifying that you are currently employed.
