Curriculum Resources Collection

This is a special collection held by the University Library for education students. It consists of school level material, including syllabus documents and practical teaching texts.

Location: The Collection is located on the first floor of the Library, across from the 300s.

All material in the Collection is available for loan and can be taken on student teaching placements.

Items in the Collection have call numbers with a CR preface.

The ERIC database, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, provides extensive access to educational-related literature.

Gale Databases Full Text
These cover the arts and humanities, social sciences, science and technology. Includes peer-reviewed articles, ebooks and online encyclopedias.

A collection of over 190 peer-reviewed journals in management and related disciplines.

Provides extensive access to educational-related literature and includes links to full text articles within the ProQuest and ERIC databases.

Family & Society PLUS Selected Full Text
Covers research, policy and practice issues about Australian families including child abuse and child protection issues.

JSTOR Full Text
JSTOR contains the full-text of hundreds of journals across the disciplines from archaeology to zoology. Many journal backsets begin in the nineteenth or early twentieth century, however most publishers included in JSTOR have negotiated 3-5 year embargoes, so the latest issues are not included.

JSTOR includes 66 education journals going back as far as the 19th Century in some cases.

Oxford Reference Online includes language dictionaries, bilingual dictionaries, and reference dictionaries and encyclopedias in all subject areas including the Oxford Dictionary of Education and the Oxford Encyclopedia of Children's Literature.

SAGE eReference
SAGE eReference is a database of multidisciplinary encyclopedias.

Free Online Databases and Directories

ERIC Online — Free internet access to the ERIC databases. Less functionality than UNE e-resources versions above.
Education-line — An offshoot of the British Education Index (available in Dixson Library) this new database offers full-text conference papers and some theses dating back to 1996.
Eldis — A database of ten thousand key documents and one hundred thousand selected websites regarding development information. Excellent for snapshots of education in other countries. Maintained at the Institute for Development Studies, University of Sussex.
IDP Database of Research into International Education — Includes international and Australian research: references to articles, books conference papers, reports; links to websites. Updated monthly.
GED — The Global Education Database accesses education data compiled by USAID from UNESCO and DHS sources - very comprehensive. Permits construction of tables of data using standard spreadsheet programs.
UNESCO portal — This site contains electronic theses and dissertations on education, as well as links to pages about primary, secondary, and higher education worldwide.
World Data on Education — Published by UNESCO’s International Bureau of Education, this site features two fully-searchable databases with information on education world-wide with text as well as statistical data.

Indigenous Peoples of Australia:Education This website, covers the whole spectrum of content, including education.
Aboriginal Studies WWW Virtual Library Maintained by Dr Ciolek of the Australian National University, this site provides links to over one hundred and thirty specialist information facilities. Sites are evaluated before being added to this portal page.
INFOKOORI Index to the Koori Mail at the State Library of NSW. also includes Our Aim, Dawn, New Dawn and Identity. UNE holds copies of Dawn, New Dawn, Identity and Koori Mail.
Literacy and Numeracy The outcome of a research project by the ACT Department of Education and Community Services, this site presents standards, skills and guidelines, as well as research relating to the project.

Adult Education/VET

Highlander Center The Highlander Center serves as an adult education center for community workers involved in social and economic justice movements. Its goals provide education and support to poor and working people fighting economic injustice, poverty, prejudice, and environmental destruction and helps grassroots leaders create the tools necessary for building broad-based movements for change.
International Literacy Explorer A multimedia teacher training tool, created by the International Literacy Institute at the University of Pennsylvania.

CILT The homepage of the Centre for Information on Language Teaching and Research in the UK.

I Love Languages This portal site links to over two thousand language-related internet resources.
TESL-EJ A fully refereed e-journal that has become an internationally recognised source of ESL and EFL information. With articles dating from 1994 to the present.
TESOL Connects! From Virginia in the US, the TESOL organisation, with information on accreditation, publications, professional development, and a job finder search engine.
The Language Teacher Online A publication of the Japan Association for Language Teaching, this e-journal has fulltext articles dating from 1996 to the present.
Resources in Language Testing A language testing database, articles, reviews, news, and conference details from this site hosted by Surrey University.

Research Papers & Websites

Australian Association for Research in Education AARE facilitates contact between education researchers, and assists them by conducting conferences and workshops, forming special interest groups, and publishing general and specific professional publications. This site also includes full text conference papers.
Qualitative Research Web Sites Provides links to online journals as well as information on qualitative research.
Action Research website maintained at southern Cross University, has information on action research and links to other relevant websites.

Test Sites

The UNE School of Psychology lists the holdings of the School's test library and contains links to worldwide psychological assessment resources.
