You can find references to articles on your topic by searching ERIC on CSA. Follow these steps:

  • Go to the University Library page at <http://www.une.edu.au/library/>.
  • Choose Journal articles & databases from the Find resources column.

  • In the first box type <child advocacy> and use the drop down arrow to change it to search Descriptors (DE=). This narrows your search to only those matches whose main focus is child advocacy.

  • Use the drop down arrow to change these to search Descriptors (DE=).
  • Click on Search.
  • Click on Full-Text to view the full article.

There are 2 main types of references in ERIC, journal articles and reports. Reports have an ED number at the end of the record in the Accession Number field. Most are available online. The Library holds a comprehensive set of these documents in microfiche format prior to 2005 stored by ED number.

For journal articles which do not have a Full-text link, use the yellow Find It button. Items held in paper can be requested using the External Students' Library Service.

ProQuest gives plenty of full text online on a variety of aspects of child advocacy. It is difficult to limit these successfully to early childhood education.

You can find references to articles on your topic by searching ProQuest. Follow these steps:

  • Go to the University Library page at <http://www.une.edu.au/library/>.
  • Choose Journal articles & databases from the Find resources column.
  • Select ProQuest from the Most Popular Databases on the left.
  • Enter your UNE username and password when prompted
  • Type <advocacy> in the first search box. Don't type the brackets.
  • Type <early childhood or preschool or care centers> in the second box.
  • Mark the box next to Full text articles only if you wish.
  • Marking the box for Scholarly journals will ensure academic sources only.
  • Click on the search button.

To view an article from the list given, click on the article title or a format icon. Click on Help (top right) for information on the various
formats. To print or email an article, you must be viewing the article contents as full text (Full Text, Full Text - PDF or Text + Graphics) or be displaying a Marked List. Use the Help if you wish to learn about emailing or printing.
