EndNote styles

Output styles determine the appearance of references in a bibliography. The name of the style refers to the journal or publisher that has defined the format of the style they require. Styles can be modified and new styles can be created using EndNote's style editor.

EndNote has over 4,500 output styles, around 250 of which are supplied with your software. If you haven't found the style you need, you can download the complete set or choose individual styles from the EndNote website.

The following style downloads have been written for Australian requirements.

Special Notes

  • If you click on a style link and get gibberish on the screen, go back and try again, this time pressing the Shift key while clicking the filter name.
  • You must insert the style files in the correct folder where your copy of EndNote has been installed. For Windows, this will usually be C:\ProgramFiles\EndNoteX4\Styles. Look in the EndNote X4 folder in your Applications folder if you use a Macintosh. If you do not insert the style correctly you will not be able to access it from the Import Manager when using EndNote.
  • Mac users can download a style by holding down the Ctrl key and clicking on the folder icon. Then click on Download Link to Disk in order to save the style into the EndNote styles folder.
