The University Library includes Dixson Library, the Law Library and the UNE Heritage Centre, as well as the Library's virtual presence on the internet.
Dixson Library is the central library on the UNE Armidale campus. It houses the University’s Learning Commons with computer labs, media rooms, study spaces, and classrooms for problem-based learning (PBL). On hand in the Learning Commons are support personnel from the Library, UNE Information Technology and the Student Centre.
Dixson Library has over one million printed volumes, a number of Special Collections, and extensive holdings of regional newspapers. Dixson Library also provides a venue for changing exhibitions of selections from the University's museums and collections.
In May 2011, the University celebrated the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Dixson Library building as the permanent home of the University Library.
An outstanding accompanying exhibition titled Cease Not To Learne Until Thou Cease To Live was openened by the Deputy Chancellor with many staff, guests and friends of the Library in attendance. A video of the opening ceremony is available online.

The Law Library is located in the Economics, Business and Law Building in the south of the Armidale campus. The Law Library supports students and staff at the School of Law, both local and at a distance.
The Heritage Centre hosts the University of New England and Regional Archives as well as the Museum of Education. The Heritage Centre is situated on the Newling Campus, on the corner of Dangar and Kentucky Streets in Armidale.

Sir William Dixson
Dixson Library is named in honour of Sir William Dixson (1870–1952), a businessman and collector of books, art and Australiana. In 1937–39, Sir William gave a total of £5,000 to assist in establishing a library at the New England University College (NEUC). The portrait of Sir William Dixson on the First Floor of the Library is by the Australian artist Norman St Clair Carter.
