French Language

General Information

French is the largest modern language taught within the School of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics at the University of New England and one of three offered in the European area. Among undergraduate degrees in which it can be included are the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Languages, Bachelor of Languages and International Business, and Bachelor of International Studies. It is also available in the 48 credit point Diploma in Modern Languages, which is a stand-alone award concentrating on one language. Many of the undergraduate and coursework postgraduate units mentioned below are also available to degree-holders as part of the Graduate Diploma in Humanities, which is a HECS-liable award.

The School is the only one in Australia to offer a full programme of French externally (by distance education) as well as internally, from beginners' level to PhD. All units shown are available in both modes, and some contain online components. External students follow the same courses as internal ones, submit the same assignments and sit the same tests and examinations. Teaching and administrative staff are highly experienced in dealing with both categories of student, and we welcome all enquiries.
