Information on Special Examinations
If your performance in an examination was affected by factors beyond your control, such as illness, accident or a bereavement, or if such events prevented you from sitting an examination, you may be granted a special examination. An application form and further information regarding special examinations is available from the Student Centre web-site. Note that you should apply as soon as possible after the affected examination, and that the Special Examination, if granted, will be held in the next examination period unless it's a take-home exam, in which case it will be held prior to the next examination period.
If you think you may not be entitled to a Special Examination, you may, as an alternative, consider applying for Special Consideration – ie, for some discretion to be applied to the marking of your exam, having regard to your circumstances.
If you are suffering from an ongoing disability which is affecting your examination performance and your studies, you should make a Special Needs application to the Equity Office.
