Vacation Messages
When going on vacation, you can set up a facility to have your email account automatically sent back a message to the people who email you.
Setting up a vacation message
- The easiest way to set your vacation message is to go through the Webmail (Squirrelmail) interface.
- Go directly to Squirrelmail ( http://mail.une.edu.au ) or follow the Webmail link from the UNE homepage
- Enter your metz username and password to authenticate.
- Select Options from the links along the top and then select Auto Response: Reply or Forward
- Tick the Reply option and enter the subject and the text of the message you would like to go out as your vacation message
- If you wish to retain a copy of all emails that are sent to your account while the vacation message is in place tick the box Keep a copy here, if this is not ticked no emails will be retained.
- Click Finish to complete the vacation message
To cancel your vacation message:
- Go directly to Squirrelmail ( http://webmail.une.edu.au ) or follow the Webmail link from the UNE homepage
- Enter your metz username and password to authenticate.
- Select Options from the links along the top and then select Auto Response: Reply or Forward
- Untick the Reply option
- untick the box Keep a copy here
- Click Finish to disable the vacation message
Email Forwarding
There may be occasions when you will want your email messages to be sent to another email address, such as when you're on holiday and are unable to access UNE email.
- Go directly to Squirrelmail ( http://webmail.une.edu.au ) or follow the Webmail link from the UNE homepage
- Enter your UNE username and password to authenticate.
- Select Options from the links along the top and then select Auto Response: Reply or Forward
- Tick the Reply option and enter the email address you would like to forward your email to.
- (Optional) Select Keep a copy here? if you would like to also keep a copy of the message in your UNE mailbox.
- Click Finish to activate the forwarding.
