VirusScan for Windows

You need to have the most recent version of VirusScan installed and you also need to have the most recent Virus Definitions.

The McAfee VirusScan software downloaded from UNE's pages is set to update its Virus Definitions regularly but it is good practice to check once a week that your software has updated.

To check which version of McAfee VirusScan you have installed go to the bottom right hand corner of your screen (the system tray) and right mouse click on the VirusScan icon

Choose "about VirusScan Enterprise "

VirusScan Enterprise version 8.7.0i is current for WindowsXP

To check that your Virus Definitions are current look at the line called
"Created On" and check the date, if it is more than a week old you should update manually.
Close the "about" window.

To manually update go to the bottom right hand corner of your screen (the system tray) and right mouse click on the VirusScan icon

Choose "update now "
