How to find your serial number on PCs and Macs:

PCs

If your PC is a brand name computer (Dell or ASI or other brands), the serial number can be found on a sticker on the case of your computer.

ASI's serial number is on sticker at the side of the desktop or on the underside of a laptop - here's an example:

Dell's serial number is called a "Service Tag" (ignore any other numbers) on the side or back of desktops or on the underside of laptops - see examples below:

Other manufacturers will have similar stickers on the case of the computer. "Homebuilt" PCs will not have a serial number on their case.

Macs:

OS9: To access the serial number on Mac OS9, click on the Apple menu in the top left of your screen and select "System Profiler" to access info on your computer including the serial number.

OSX: Click on the Apple Menu, the on "About this Mac", then on "
More Info". You can find the serial number under the "Hardware" Section of the System Profiler
