Virtual Private Network

A virtual private network (VPN) is a network that uses a public telecommunication infrastructure, such as your home internet connection, to provide you with secure access to UNE's network.

By downloading and configuring the VPN client and establishing a "tunnel" to UNE by starting the client, your system will function as if on the UNE network even if you connect to your home internet or another organisation's network.

This feature is especially useful if you need to access resources that are only available from within the UNE network, such as the CMS, files on barney or some other servers.

VPN clients are available for Windows and Macintosh

NOTE: OUR FORTINET VPN CLIENT IS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE AND A NEW CLIENT WILL BE LAUNCHED IN THE NEAR FUTURE. IF YOU REQUIRE VPN ACCESS, PLEASE CONTACT THE IT SERVICE DESK ON X5000 OR BY EMAIL (servicedesk@une.edu.au) TO ARRANGE FOR ACCESS THROUGH A TEMPORARY CLIENT.
