Local Area Network
To connect your computer to the UNE Local Area Network (LAN) you will need to follow these steps. Step 1 - Registration on the NetworkEnsure the the network port in the wall is active, if this is not the case you will need to have it activated before you can access the network. Staff will need to send a request to the Service Desk to activate the network port with details of the building, room, port number. This is a chargeable service so you will need to include a cost code with your email or send an electronic ITJ. Register the Hardware Address of the network card in your computer. To register the Hardware Address, Please ask the Administrator Assistant to contact service desk with MAC Address and either the subnet for your area or the building where you are located to the Service Desk. To find your Hardware Address follow these steps, depending on your Operating System: Windows 2000/XP Windows Vista Mac OS X Step 2 - Configure Your ComputerDepending on which Operating System you use, several changes may need to be made before your machine is properly configured to use the UNE LAN. It is assumed from these steps that automatic network wizards are not attempting to set up a connection for you.
