UNE Events Rules of Use
IntroductionAt UNE, one of the largest mailing list is UNE-events. When you post a single message to this group the list will send out nearly a thousand email messages. Your posting needs to comply with the Rules for the Use of University of New England Computing and Communication Facilities and the Telecommunications Act, 1997 . These guidelines will assist you to make full use of this powerful means of communication and help you to stay legal and relevant. 1.0 Acceptance of These Rules and Conditions1.1 Subscription to this service indicates full acceptance of the following rules and conditions as may be altered periodically. 2.0 Function and Purpose2.1 UNE-events's purpose is to inform the University community of University and community events. This list is for announcements and notifications of matters that are relevant, or may be of wide general interest, to the university community. Matter posted to this list may be of a community, cultural or charitable nature. 2.2 This is not the official communication medium of UNE. All official university correspondence will be posted to UNE-official. 3.0 Administration3.1 Content of this list is not moderated before it is posted, but any inappropriate posting will be dealt with. Please restrict your postings to concise, informative and congenial debate. 3.2 These Rules and Conditions were last updated on Monday, November 26, 2007. 4.0 Problem Postings4.1 The primary function of this list, as mentioned above, is for "announcements, and notifications that are relevant, or may be of wide general interest, to the University community". 4.2 Items that you have for sale, auction, lease, rent or tender are not considered to be of this nature and as such must not be posted to this list. Such postings can be posted to the une-forsale forum, as long as it conforms to the une-forsale guidelines . 4.3 Discussion of any announcements made on UNE-events, other issues of university interest or topics such as government policy or current international relations are not to be posted to une-events. Please take any of these issues to une-discussion . 4.7 Chain letters, commercial advertising and petitions are not considered to be appropriate material for this forum. 4.8 Attachments are not to be posted to the list. If you have a file you would to circulate, put it up on a web page and post the link to the list. 5.0 Membership Responsibilities5.1 As a member of this list, you are expected to observe good emailing practice and netiquette. Members are individually responsible for the content of their postings. 5.2 Please post emails in plain text format. HMTL formatting such as bold, italics, underline, and coloured or enlarged text is not to be used. Using background images is also considered to be poor netiquette and must be avoided. 5.3 Include a descriptive subject line that gives members a full and accurate description of what your post is about. 5.4 Don't post personal requests or advice. 5.5 Don't re-post material without verification or permission from the original sender. This is also known as Forwarding and can lead to prosecution if used without the original senders permission. 6.0 Penalties6.1 Any breach of the above mentioned conditions will be dealt with by the list owner. 6.2 If a member posts an email that is considered inappropriate, that member will be sent an email outlining what they have done, and will be officially warned not to make postings of that nature again. 6.3 If a member posts an inappropriate email for a second time, the list owner will remove the member from the list for a period of thirty days and send them an email outlining why they have been removed. 6.4 Members may appeal in writing against a suspension. |
