EMail on your mobile

To set up your mobile phone to send and receive your UNE emails, different settings are required depending on the mailserver you connect to.If you are a staff member on Exchange, an Exchange compatible phone such as the iPhone is required. If you are a student or a staff member who has not opted in to the Exchange rollout, please follow the Unix instructions

Exchange

(Staff members on Exchange only). Instructions below are for the iPhone, the most common Exchange compatible phone. Other phones require the same settings but may have a different interface to set up the service

How to set up Exchange on the iPhone

Unix (POP)

To configure the Unix POP mail (students and staff members not on Exchange) the settings below are required.

Username: yourUNEusername (eg jbloggs)

Password: yourUNEpassword (eg Qs!2frT1)

Email Address: yourUNEusername@une.edu.au

Pop or Incoming Mailserver: mail.une.edu.au

SMTP or Outgoing Mailserver: mail.bigpond.com (note: this setting is for mobiles on UNE Telstra accounts.  If you have a different mobile provider, you will need to contact them for the correct SMTP settings)

Where the settings are entered varies from phone to phone. Please refer to the User Manual of your specific model for information on how to access and enter email settings.

Due to the configuration of our mailserver, the "Remove mail from server" option is not available for UNE emails on your mobile.

Note: A data plan is required if you want to receive emails on your mobile. Please submit a Mobile Order Phone (selecting just a data plan) to the Service Desk if you need to upgrade from a standard "voice only" plan to a data plan.
