Skype
Get connected to Skype at UNE
Integrate Education and Social integration through Skype Communication and Collaboration Services.
Use your desktop or laptop computer (PC or MAC) for these Skype features:
- Free calls to other Skype Users
- Free video calling
- Free Skype to Skype conference calls
- Free instant messaging
- Free group information management and file sharing.
Skype for Windows:
Download
Click here to download Skype from the Skype website or from here to download from the UNE file server.
Installation:
1. Run ‘SkypeSetup.exe’.
2. Select your language.
3. Tick the box accepting the Skype End User License Agreement and Skype Privacy Statement.
4. Click ‘Install’.
5. Click ‘Start Skype’.
6. Click Sign in. (If you don't have a Skype account yet, click on"Don't have a Skype name?" and fill in your details to create an account.)
7. When the Windows Security Alert box pops up, Click Unblock.
Skype for Mac OSX:
To setup Skype on Mac OSX, you must have version at least Version 2.8 which is available here.
Installation:
Download Skype from the link above.
Open the file and drag Skype to your Applications folder on your Hard Disk.
Find the Skype icon in your Applications Folder and double-click it to start the application.
When you run Skype, don't login yet. Go to the Skype menu and click on Preferences.
In the Preferences window, click on "Advanced" and set the incoming port to 8080.
Close the window to save your changes.
You can now sign in and use Skype on the UNE network.
(If you don't have a Skype account yet, click on"Don't have a Skype name?" and fill in your details to create an account).
For Wireless Set Up:
A wireless network exists on campus for the use of both students and staff. To connect to the wireless network you require a computer with a wireless card and a UNE username and password. Plese Log into http://www.une.edu.au/it-services/wireless.php for setup instructions.
Once connected, you can use your computer to access Skype features.
