Computer Science Pathways

HEU and UNE have a pathway agreement that provides Harbin students an opportunity to complete their Bachelor of Computer Science degree at UNE. Depending on the units studied at HEU, students can complete their UNE degree in three or four semesters. There are two possible pathway options. In the first option, students study 2.5 years in China at HEU, and 1.5 years in Australia at UNE. In the second option, students study two years in China and two years in Australia. At the successful completion of either pathway, students will be awarded a Bachelor of Computer Science degree of UNE.

2.5 year HEU + 1.5 UNE Pathway

UNE’s Bachelor of Computer Science consists of a total of 24 units of study. Under the 2.5 + 1.5 Pathway Model, students undertake 12 units at HEU over two and a half years, and then complete their final 12 units at UNE over one and a half years (equal to three semesters). Upon successful completion of the HEU’s course as given below, advanced standing will be granted for 12 units (the equivalent of three semesters of study). It will take another three semesters of study at UNE to complete the remaining 12 units and satisfy the requirements of the Bachelor of Computer Science. The 2.5 + 1.5 model is based on normal, full-time progression at UNE; if units are failed or withdrawn from, it will take students longer than the length of time indicated to fulfil the requirements of the degree.

Bachelor of Business - 2 years HEU + 2 years UNE Pathway

UNE’s Bachelor of Business consists of a total of 24 units of study. Under the 2 + 2 Pathway Model, students undertake 10 units at Harbin over two years, and then complete their final 14 units at UNE over two years.

Students may complete a major in Professional Accounting and study units very similar to those in the Bachelor of Financial Administration. Alternatively students may choose one of the following majors - Agribusiness; Business Economics; Decision Support Tools for Business; Financial Management; Human Resource Management; International Business or Management.

The Bachelor of Business degree offers students the opportunity to pursue careers in general management, accounting, human resource management, marketing and other business related areas. The flexible course structure enables students to choose a specialisation from numerous major streams of study within the award. Students can achieve disciplinary depth as well as the breadth of learning expected in business degrees. The quality of the degree is supported by its accreditation with the accounting bodies and the Australian Human Resources Institute. The degree differs from those offered elsewhere in that it provides a substantial grounding in a greater variety of areas. This means that students will have a wider range of career options from which to choose.
